Perspectives

Scientology

Scientology is not a Christian denomination, even though it speaks about spirit, salvation, past lives, and a bridge to freedom. This comparison uses the Church of Scientology's own public explanations and does not import allegations or hostile accounts into its summary.

Begin where the witnesses already meet.

Both reject a merely material definition of the person, understand identity as more than the present flesh body, take spiritual freedom seriously, recognize that past experience can affect present life, and place responsibility upon the individual rather than inherited social identity.

Is spiritual truth discovered through Scientology processing—or received and tested through God's written revelation?

Scientology begins with the thetan and a practical technology attributed to L. Ron Hubbard for recovering spiritual ability across past lives. Call My G begins with the Father, His children, the biblical account of three earth ages, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Similar words about spirit and prior existence therefore lead toward fundamentally different authorities, histories, and destinations.

The foundation does not change with the audience.

Every comparison begins from the same declared convictions: the Bible is the controlling written witness; Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh, crucified, risen, and ascended; salvation is God’s gift through Christ; and His literal return follows the final counterfeit, sounds at the Seventh Trump, and opens the Millennium.

The wider three-earth-age framework is then presented as a cross-passage synthesis—not smuggled into the foundation as though one verse stated the whole picture.

Controlling authority

Scientology teaching

Scientology's scripture and applied religious technology derive from the writings and recorded lectures of L. Ron Hubbard and are followed through prescribed training and auditing.

Call My G reading

The Bible is the controlling, tried document. Every teacher, experience, and claimed spiritual method remains answerable to its witnesses.

MARK 7:7-9, 13 - KJV 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men... 9 ...Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition... NOTE: Tradition is tested by whether it preserves or displaces God's word.

God

Scientology teaching

Scientology acknowledges an Eighth Dynamic associated with infinity or the Supreme Being but generally leaves a person's concept of God to personal discovery rather than defining a revealed Creator in biblical terms.

Call My G reading

God is the personal Father and Creator who reveals Himself in Scripture and entered flesh in Jesus Christ.

JOHN 1:1, 14 - KJV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us... NOTE: John identifies the Word as God and then identifies the Word entering flesh. This is a controlling witness for Call My G's understanding of Jesus.

The spiritual person

Scientology teaching

A person is an immortal spiritual being called a thetan who has lived before, occupies a body, and can recover greater awareness and ability.

Sources behind this summaryChurch of Scientology — Is Man a spirit?Linked to verify the tradition’s own position, not as a Call My G teaching endorsement.

Call My G reading

The soul is God's child in a spiritual body, personally known before flesh and returning to God afterward. Identity comes from the Father, not an autonomous spiritual self.

JOB 38:4, 7 - KJV 4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? NOTE: Personal witnesses are present when Earth's foundations are laid. Identifying those sons and stars with God's children before flesh is the larger synthesis.

Past lives and the first earth age

Scientology teaching

Past lives are not described as compulsory dogma, but auditing commonly leads Scientologists to certainty that they lived before and to address aberrations carried from earlier lives.

Call My G reading

Preexistence is not a chain of repeated mortal identities. God's children lived in the first earth age, then enter this flesh age innocently for its particular test.

The problem within the person

Scientology teaching

The reactive mind, engrams, and accumulated aberration restrict awareness and ability; auditing seeks to remove those barriers and advance the person toward Clear and Operating Thetan.

Sources behind this summaryChurch of Scientology — What is auditing?Linked to verify the tradition’s own position, not as a Call My G teaching endorsement.

Call My G reading

The central problem is sin and allegiance within a free child of God. Knowledge and recovered ability cannot substitute for repentance, grace, and reconciliation through Christ.

Jesus Christ

Scientology teaching

Scientology respects Jesus as one of several great religious leaders but does not make His identity, crucifixion, and resurrection the exclusive center of spiritual salvation.

Salvation and destination

Scientology teaching

Salvation is increasing spiritual awareness, freedom, and ability through the Bridge to Total Freedom; heaven and hell are not defined as fixed Christian destinations.

Where would you say our reading turns incorrectly?

These are invitations to examine the actual hinge—not traps designed to win an argument.

  1. 01

What source establishes the thetan's origin, and how can that claim be tested independently of auditing?

  2. 02

How does the Eighth Dynamic differ from the personal Father revealed in Scripture?

  3. 03

Are memories arising during auditing reliable evidence of prior lives, and what could falsify that conclusion?

  4. 04

If Jesus is one spiritual teacher among several, what explains Psalm 22, His resurrection witnesses, and His claims about the Father?

  5. 05

Does greater spiritual ability reconcile a person to God, or only increase the person's confidence in self?

Insider review is still pending.

This is a working comparison assembled from the tradition’s own published teaching. A knowledgeable insider is invited to correct any unfair summary. Correction strengthens the bridge by making Call My G answer the strongest accurate form of the other position.

The denominational descriptions are summaries. Call My G’s cross-passage positions remain identified as conclusions or foundational synthesis unless the cited passage states the proposition explicitly.

Official denominational pages are linked only so readers can verify that tradition’s position in its own words. Call My G does not endorse those sources as teaching authorities. Its affirmative study recommendations remain limited to Scripture, Shepherd’s Chapel, and selected Shepherd’s Chapel videos.
